Twenty two young men who were said to be involved in yahoo related criminal activities have been rounded up during raids on their hideout by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Asaba, the Delta State capital, with various items recovered from them during the raids, the commission announced on Monday, May 23.
The young men were said to have been picked up by operatives of the Benin zonal command of the commission following intelligence reports gathered by the commission about the various yahoo criminal activities committed by the young men on the internet.
In fact, during the raid on their hideout, two Mercedes Benz GLK worth N12 million each (current price on the internet) were among the various items recovered from them.
The names of those arrested as announced by the commission are Promise Bassey, Raymond Diamond, Ifeanyi Anyasi, Celestine Osalenlen, Johnbull Kingsley, Ikekhua Mately, Clifford Johnson, Akorah Chinedu, Kester Ogochukwu, Idugba Junior and Lucky Egwuatu.
Others were Victor Nwabunwanna, Happiness Ayo, Rawlings Nwabunwanna, Eleka Ikejiha, Oliseh Emeka, Ozuwa Destiny, Prince Erik Nnamdi, Emmanuel Ochuku Igben, Tochukwu Onyido, Gift Onuajefe and Odosun Matthew.
They were said to have been arrested at their hideout located in Asaba, the Delta State capital, and they were said to have given useful information to the operatives of the anti-graft commission about their activities.
Their arrest was announced by the commission in a statement posted on the Facebook wall and Twitter handle of the commission on Monday and the statement added that at the point of their arrest, items recovered from them included two Mercedes Benz GLK, a Toyota Camry, various brands of mobile phones, various incriminating documents, among others.
