Festus – With just few days remaining before the general elections campaign officially begin, some of the controversies surrounding the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress are yet to be put to rest.
But in a recent interview with Channels Television, the Spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign organization, Festus Keyamo has advised pastors to focus their attention on the message of salvation and they should stop preaching about politics.
Hear him “The purpose of pastors, we’ve said so before, while we respect them so much, their duty is to lead people to heaven, not to lead people to Villa.
If I go to church every Sunday, I want to hear the sermon of God, I don’t want to hear the sermon of politics or who should rule me.
I want to hear God’s sermon, what will lead me to salvation and not what will lead me to the Villa”
The Bible in Proverbs 29:2 says when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice;but when the wicked rule , the people groan. For too the the Church has mislead the masses by not participating directly in politics and in the electioneering processes. Whilst the Clergy inadvertently abstained from teaching the congregation on political choices , people like Keyamo and his paymasters took advantage . Politics pervades every facet of our lives, Beginning from the home; husband and wife, children etc there is politics. Whilst the people from other Faith’s guided their congregation , the Nigerian Christian clergy stupidly shied away in the guise of leading the people to heaven supposedly. I maintain that Christian clerics must be involved, directly in politics. David was a priest, a prophet and a kind , all rolled into one. Samuel was a Judge, ditto for Samson. Daniel was a prophet , a politician and a statesman. God himself is the number one Politician. Consider his debacle with Lucifer before he chased him out. It is because Pastors left a part of their calling as SHEPHERDS to hirelings like KEYAMO that is why we are suffering as a people. Keyamo should take his message to his family. He is part of the marauding gang hell bent on maintaining the status quo. It’s time up for his ilk. I thank God that people like Prophet Isa El Buba, Pastor Sarah Omakwu, Pastor Dr Paul Enenche, Bishop Abioye have taken up the gauntlet. This action is unsettling Keyamo and his Co travellers
