In a heartbreaking incident, a 29-year-old fun-seeker named Francis lost his life in a drowning incident at the Pop Beach Club in the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State. The unfortunate event occurred on Thursday around 12 pm while Francis was celebrating his birthday with friends.

According to reports from PUNCH Metro, the celebrant and three others left the ongoing celebration to swim in the sea. Tragedy struck when the lifeguards near the shore raised an alarm upon noticing the group struggling against the tide. The eyewitness disclosed that after about 30 minutes of swimming, the four individuals were no longer visible, prompting the lifeguards to intervene. Regrettably, they could only rescue three of them, and despite their efforts to save Francis, he was too weak to swim.

Despite the lifeguards’ immediate response and subsequent police involvement, the missing person, Francis, was not found during the search that lasted until the evening. Sadly, his lifeless body was discovered on the shore of the sea on Saturday morning.

A police source in the community confirmed the incident, stating that the body was recovered two days after the incident, and it has been deposited in the morgue. The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety and vigilance, especially in recreational settings, to prevent such unfortunate occurrences.
