Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, Monday, declared war on Idolatry and urged the Christendom to join hands with the government to ride the State free of idolatry.

Soludo, who made the call at the dedication of the new church building of House of Testimony, Life of Faith Gospel Assembly, Federal Housing Estate, 3-3, Onitsha, observed that idolatry was fast overtaking Anambra but his administration would contain it.

He described Anambra as God’s own state and urged unity among denominations, because according to him, they are one body in Christ Jesus, and denomination are merely mode of worship, faith and dogma.

According to him, “Since the inception of my administration, we have declared war on criminals, their shrines, priests and burnt down their idols. They can come with whatever they want to but with the bible in our right hand, we shall prevail. Anambra is in the hands of God.

“But we must continue to pray, to take back our state from criminals, touts and lawlessness. Idolatry is the fastest growing religion in the state. We must not take it for granted. If we bond together, we will survive collectively but if we go separately, we will die separately. This land is our own, we must not give up on this.”

The governor also listed some of his achievements in office since 8 months to include ensuring that competency rules in recruitment processes, awarding 230km of road, recruitment of doctors, nurses and 5000 teachers, among others.

Earlier, the General Overseer of Life of Faith Gospel Church, Bishop Emmanuel Obiorah, and the State Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Moses Ezedebego, assured that the ‘body of Christ’ would give the government necessary support to thrive especially through supplications.
