Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, is “the only living politician capable of dismantling the cabal holding Nigeria behind,” according to Chief Frank Kokori, a former General Secretary of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers.
Kokori, an APC elder in Delta State, applauded Tinubu’s emergence as the party’s candidate for the 2023 general election, telling journalists on Sunday in his Ovu residence in the Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state, “I don’t think there’s a better candidate than Tinubu, who can take on the cabal and save Nigeria finally.”
Noting that such a move would be callous and destructive to national cohesion and togetherness, the renowned labor leader cautioned Tinubu, a Muslim, against succumbing to pressures from senior party officials to choose another Muslim as running mate.
In this context, he especially pleaded with Northern leaders and governors not to support a Muslim-Muslim ticket for Tinubu’s 2023 election triumph.
Kokori stated, “They should be patient with him and not force him to take the Muslim ticket.”
Religion and ethnicity have become significant issues in this society, so they must accept this as a sacrifice. He should have unfettered discretion in selecting a noble Northern Christian to assist.
