Falconets Secure Semi-finals Spot with 4-0 Victory over Senegal in African Games

The Nigerian women’s football team, the Super Falconets, delivered an impressive performance as they defeated the Senegalese team, the Teranga Lionesses, with a resounding 4-0 victory in their second group match of the 13th African Games in Ghana.

With this triumph, the defending champions, Nigeria, booked their ticket to the semi-finals of the women’s football event.

Yina Aidoo and Chioma Oliseh, both goal scorers, earned their spots in the starting lineup as Nigeria swiftly took control of the game within the first fifteen minutes.

Loveth Edeh opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 13th minute, setting the tone for their dominant display.

Despite numerous chances created by both sides, the first half concluded without any further goals.

In the second half, Motunrayo Ezekiel extended Nigeria’s lead with a goal five minutes after the break, followed by an own goal by Senegal in the 51st minute, bringing the scoreline to 3-0 in favor of Nigeria.

Chioma Olise sealed the victory with a goal ten minutes before the final whistle, making it her second consecutive goal in the tournament, courtesy of a brilliant assist from substitute Chiamaka Okwuchukwu.

With six points from two matches, Chris Danjuma’s team currently leads Group B standings.

In the semi-finals, the Falconets will face the second-placed team from Group A.

This victory comes after Nigeria’s triumph over Morocco in their opening group fixture, showcasing their determination to secure the gold medal at the African Games.
