The Flying Eagles of Nigeria clinched a hard-fought 1-0 victory against South Sudan on Monday night, with Sadiq Isiyaka’s penalty securing the win for Nigeria.

The match, held at the Accra Sports Stadium, witnessed Charles Agada missing two late goal-scoring opportunities.

After starting their campaign with a disappointing 2-1 loss to Uganda, leaving their qualification hopes uncertain, the Ladan Bosso-led team took matters into their own hands against South Sudan.

Despite facing a determined South Sudanese side, the Flying Eagles managed to secure all three points with a lone goal.

Sadiq Isiyiaka, who also scored Nigeria’s only goal against Uganda, converted a penalty to seal the 1-0 victory for the Flying Eagles.

With this result, the Flying Eagles climbed to second place in Group B standings.

Ladan Bosso’s squad trails behind Uganda’s Hippos, who lead the group with six points after defeating Senegal 1-0 in their previous match.

Next, the team will focus on their final group game against Senegal on Friday, where they will battle for a spot in the next round.

Notably, a draw in the upcoming match is sufficient to guarantee qualification for the semifinals
