The Rivers State Government has refuted claims that Governor Siminalayi Fubara dismissed some of his aides.

It also denied that the Governor instructed the removal of local government chairmen as part of his strategy to counter potential impeachment moves by the House Assembly.

Warisenibo Johnson, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, clarified the situation in a statement issued on Tuesday. He stated, “There have been baseless reports circulating on various media platforms about His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, sacking specific categories of his aides and local council chairmen.”

Johnson emphasized that the Governor had not given him any such directive as the official spokesperson of the State government up to Tuesday, October 31, 2023. He highlighted Governor Fubara’s adherence to established rules and his humane approach.

He urged the public to ignore these unverified reports. Johnson assured that the public would be duly informed about any personnel changes made by the Governor at the appropriate time.

He concluded, “As the Commissioner for Information and Communication, I shall keep the public updated on events in due course.”
