A soldier, whose identity remains undisclosed, has voiced criticism against Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the arrest of his colleagues who violated traffic regulations in Lagos. In a viral video, the soldier expressed his disapproval of the governor’s actions and asserted that Sanwo-Olu would not dare such actions in the North East region.

In the video, the soldier questioned the governor’s decision to label a lance soldier as “useless” and highlighted the perceived injustice of arresting a soldier for a traffic violation. He confidently claimed that if the governor were in the North East, he wouldn’t dare to arrest a soldier, emphasizing that no governor has the right to subject a soldier to guard room confinement.

The soldier, speaking in Pidgin English, passionately conveyed his message, stating that even if his senior officer were to discipline him, it is beyond the governor’s authority to do so. He criticized the governor for endangering citizens’ lives by pursuing and arresting a soldier on the road.

This reaction follows reports that Sanwo-Olu ordered the arrest of a soldier and three motorcyclists for violating traffic rules on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. In a video clip, the governor is seen directing the officers to detain one of the motorcyclists who claimed to be a soldier, expressing his intent to lock him up for his actions.
