The Kano State Police Command has apprehended an 18-year-old notorious thug identified as Yusuf Haruna, also known as Lagwatsani, for the alleged stabbing death of an Imam in Dala Local Government of the state.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the incident occurred on December 31, 2023, around 1900hrs in Jakara Quarters. Yusuf Haruna reportedly attacked and stabbed 45-year-old Mallam Sani Mohammed Shuaibu, who resided at the same address, in the back with a sharp knife while he was performing ablution.
The victim suffered a deep injury and was quickly rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead by a doctor.
Investigations revealed that the suspect committed the crime because the victim had warned him and his gang to cease smoking Indian hemp around the Mosque premises.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, assured that the command is fully committed to conducting a thorough investigation into the case and bringing the perpetrators to justice. He commended the people of the state for their confidence in and support for the Police Command.
