Authorities have apprehended individuals suspected of being involved in the tragic killing of Chief Silas Onyima, the recently elected President-General of Umuoji community. Anambra People can confirm that security operatives successfully made the arrests.
The community was shocked by the brutal murder of Mr. Onyima, whose lifeless body was discovered in his bathtub, depicting a gruesome scene. A circulating video portrayed the horrific aftermath, with Mr. Onyima lying in a pool of blood, his body showing signs of violence.
Following a comprehensive investigation, law enforcement agents have presented two suspects believed to be the orchestrators of this heinous crime. One of the suspects, identified as a tenant of Mr. Onyima from Ebonyi State, was found in possession of the victim’s belongings, including phones, ATM cards, and a firearm. He was allegedly attempting to withdraw funds from the deceased’s account before being apprehended.
It’s reported that Mr. Onyima had previously served the suspect an eviction notice due to suspicions of involvement in occult practices, which reportedly angered him and led to the deadly scheme against the President-General. The suspected perpetrator is said to be the son of the late mother’s caregiver, who resided within the deceased’s premises.
Prior to his untimely demise, Chief Onyima had expressed concerns to his wife and associates regarding threats received from the individual in question, as revealed in an audio recording circulating online.
The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation at the Ogidi divisional police station as investigations into the case continue.
