Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, urged South East governors to allow the wishes of the voters in their states to prevail.

Oby’s statement came hours after INEC announced indefinite suspension of the collation of the results after political thugs disrupted the process on Sunday.

The thugs, said to be affiliated with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), invaded the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC’s collation centre in Obingwa Local Government Area and attempted to force the electoral officers to declare falsified results in the LGA.

Speaking about the development via her Twitter on Tuesday, Oby Ezekwesili slammed the governors of Enugu, Abia adding that they should not destabilize their state for selfish reasons.

In her words: “Any of you, Governors of the South East States – Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Anambra- acting irresponsibly and trying to destabilize your States, better STOP IT NOW. Stop.

“Elections are NOT war. Respect the wishes of the voters in your States. Stop all selfish actions now.”
