Rapper Killer Mike, whose real name is Michael Render, was reportedly detained at the Grammys on Sunday after securing victory in all three categories he was nominated for, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

A video shared on social media by one of the outlet’s reporters captured the rapper being escorted in handcuffs to an undisclosed location within the Crypto.Com Arena, the venue for the Grammys.

The Hollywood Reporter cited an arena security official stating that the rapper’s detention was unrelated to the awards ceremony. However, the Los Angeles Police Department had not responded immediately to an AFP request for comments on the situation.

During the time of his reported detainment, Killer Mike shared a series of emojis on Twitter, symbolizing his three awards and expressing gratitude with the words: “Thank God.”

Killer Mike emerged victorious in the categories of Best Rap Album for “Michael,” as well as Best Rap Song and Performance for “Scientists & Engineers.”

Speaking to journalists backstage, he expressed his deliberate intention to create the best album globally. He also highlighted his conscious effort to narrate the story of a young Black boy growing up on the west side of Atlanta, aiming to showcase a narrative beyond victimization and loss, emphasizing that the Black community can thrive and prosper.
