Police in Nasarawa Launch Manhunt for Kidnappers of Local Government Chairman

The Nasarawa State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the recent abduction of Safiyanu Isa-Andaha, the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area in the state. The incident, carried out by unidentified gunmen, prompted the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, to mobilize personnel with the aim of apprehending the culprits and securing the release of the kidnapped chairman and another individual.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ramhan Nansel, provided this information to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Lafia. According to Nansel, the abduction occurred around 8:30 p.m. in Ningo village of Akwanga LG. He emphasized that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are actively pursuing the kidnappers to ensure the safe return of the council chairman and the other victim.

Nansel urged the public, particularly residents of villages in the area, to share any relevant information with the police that could aid in the rescue of the abducted individuals and the apprehension of the perpetrators.

Earlier reports revealed that Andaha was taken on Monday night at Ningo village along Andaha–Akwanga Road. He was abducted alongside a local resident, Adamu Custom, who was accompanying him at the time of the incident.
