National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has admitted that the defection of former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, has affected the opposition coalition.

Bellnews reports that Mark made this known on Wednesday while addressing the members of the Forum of the ADC (former Federal Lawmakers) at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Mark stressed that Peter Obi and Kwankwaso’s defection will spur the ADC to work harder.

He said, “No doubt, the exit of Obi and Kwankwaso has its impact but that will spur us to work harder.”

Speaking further, the ADC Chairman declared that the party would produce candidates who can win elections, assuring that it would overcome the challenges it’s currently facing.

He further said, “We must close our ranks and avoid issues of factionalization. Our opponents are bringing renegades as one-man factions. We shall overcome all their shenanigans.

“Nigerians are already with us and we all need to be on board. That is why I urge us all to work together and succeed together.”

Recall that Peter Obi and Kwankwaso recently dumped the ADC for the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in pursuit of their joint presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 election.
