Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed renowned Nigerian actress, Laide Bakare, to the position of Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment, Art, Culture, and Tourism.

Bakare shared the news on her Instagram account on Friday, expressing her gratitude for the opportunity and pledging to give her best in her new role.

Accompanied by photos of herself with Governor Adeleke, Bakare wrote, “I am now an Honourable. Ya Allah, I am grateful to my new boss, Governor Ademola Jackson Adeleke, Imole Osun. Thank you so much for the trust and opportunity to serve. I promise to deliver my best. So help me God.”

She further elaborated on her new responsibilities, stating, “Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State on entertainment, art, culture, and tourism.” Bakare acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed her readiness to tackle them.

“This marks the beginning of my political career. There is much work to be done. Shall we? To all the good people of Osun State and Nigeria at large, it’s indeed a new dawn for me as I embark on this political journey. God bless Nigeria,” she added.

This appointment follows a trend where governors appoint popular actresses to advisory roles in the entertainment sector. In 2017, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello appointed Mercy Johnson-Okogie as his Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment, Arts, and Culture.
