The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) promised on Saturday to deliver the best general elections in Nigeria in 2023.

Bellnewsonline.com reports that its chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, gave the assurance when he paid a visit to the training center for Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs) at Government Secondary School Garki in Abuja.

The meeting had the Director General (DG) of The Electoral Institute (TEI) Dr. Sa’ad Umar Idris in attendance, along with other INEC officials.

“The commission is determined that the 2023 election will be the best-ever,” Prof. Yakubu said.

“INEC is not a political party. The choice of who becomes what in Nigeria is left to the Nigerian people.

“We want you (the SPOs) to help the commission, help Nigerians, and help the electoral process to achieve its sacred aim.

“I want to implore you to continue to serve the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The 2023 Nigerian presidential election will be held on February 25 to elect the president and vice president of Nigeria.

Other federal elections, including elections to the House of Representatives and the Senate, will also be held on the same date while state elections will be held two weeks afterward on March 11.
