The Executive Governor of Onto State, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has again reacted to the rate of insecurity in his state and the country at large months after terrorists stormed a Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State and killed worshippers and passersby.
According to the Governor, he said protecting the lives and property of his people is his major priority as the Governor of the State, and that we won’t fold his hands seeing his people being killed by terrorists in the state.
He said if any other attack is carried out in his state, he will ask his people to get guns to protect themselves, and that they will even get guns for their people for protection.
Speaking further, Akeredolu asked if they want him to stay inside his house while someone come from nowhere and kill him there.
He said if they are pushed to the wall by terrorists, they will encourage their people to get guns, and that they are currently in talks with the traditional rulers in the state to get traditional powers, adding that nobody, state or country can continue to witness such level of insecurity.
Akeredolu said there is a problem if bandits can save their people from the government, and the government in turn cannot save the masses from bandits.
Is acquisition of arms and ammunition by citizens the solution to insecurity?
