The Ministry of Interior is set to launch the Automated Passport Application, aiming to minimize human contact in the passport acquisition process. The new system, to be inaugurated today, allows users to upload passport photographs and supporting documents from the convenience of their homes, reducing the need for physical visits to immigration centers.

Here are the fundamental guidelines on how to apply for international passports using the new automated system:

Basic Requirements:

  1. Nigerian citizenship
  2. Possession of the National Identification Number (NIN)
  3. Compliance with stringent ICAO standards for passport photographs
  4. Essential breeder documents like the birth certificate and local government certificate of indigeneship

Additional Requirement for Passport Renewals: Applicants must have their old passport number readily available for uploading during the application.

Application Process in 5 Steps:

  1. Accessing the Online Portal:

    • Fill in all necessary data fields as prompted, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  3. Document Submission:
