Five Arrested in Katsina for Illegal Possession of AK-47 Rifles

The Katsina State Police Command has reported the arrest of five individuals found in illegal possession of AK-47 rifles in Kurmi village, Bakori Local Government Area. ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the command’s spokesperson, provided details of the arrest to the media in Katsina on Wednesday.

According to Sadiq-Aliyu, the arrests were made on December 19, 2023, based on credible intelligence. Operatives from the Bakori Divisional Police Headquarters, in collaboration with vigilante members, identified and apprehended the suspects during a patrol. The individuals arrested include Sharhabilu Dahiru (20), Abubakar Tukur (25), Kasamanu Abdullahi (20), Abdulrahman Shu’aibu (20), and Sulaiman Sanusi (20), all hailing from Kakumi village in Bakori LGA.

During questioning, the suspects confessed to stealing the AK-47 rifle from the residence of Jamilu Lawal in the same village. Lawal was subsequently invited for further investigation regarding the illegal possession of the firearm. The police emphasized the seriousness of the crime and the ongoing efforts to ensure a thorough investigation.
