The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has notified customers of an upcoming temporary shutdown of its vending platform on February 24th, 2024, to facilitate the rollover necessary for the STS prepaid meter upgrade.

Emeka Ezeh, Head of Corporate Communications Officer at EEDC, conveyed this information through a statement issued in Awka on Friday. The upgrading process is scheduled to occur from 6 am to 10 pm, during which customers will be unable to recharge or purchase energy tokens.

Ezeh clarified that regular meter recharge services will resume promptly after the rollover is finalized. Following the rollover, customers will be required to input three sets of 20-digit tokens to initiate the meter upgrade process.

To complete the upgrade, customers should enter the first 20 digits and press “enter,” then input the second set of 20 digits followed by “enter,” and finally, the third set of 20 digits (the energy token).

In preparation for the upgrade, Ezeh advised customers to load any previously purchased tokens onto their meters before administering the three sets of 20-digit tokens. Once the meter upgrade is completed, previously purchased tokens that have not been loaded will no longer be valid.
