AWKA – Incumbent representative for Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha federal constituency Hon. Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo says he could not believe it that he defeated Sen. Victor Umeh to win the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) primary election for Anambra-Central senatorial district.

Nwankwo who was short of words at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka where he was declared winner by the Returning Officer for Anambra-Central senatorial district primary election Barr. Mrs. Elizabeth Nwokocha, having polled 162 votes against Sen. Umeh who scored 151 votes, said his triumph at the polls was a clear manifestation that he is loved by his people.

He therefore thanked the delegates whom he said toiled day and night to make sure that victory didn’t elude him, saying that it was indeed a well-deserved victory and only God deserved all the glory.

Nwankwo who addressed journalists with an emotion-ladened voice said he dedicated his defeat against Umeh to God, his lovely wife and children, adding that the All Progressives Grand Alliance has elected him to go into the real election with candidates from other political parties even though he was confident of another victory in the general election.

The federal lawmaker said although he won the primary election, still there is no Victor, no vanquished while calling on Sen. Victor Umeh and Uzuegbunam Okagbue who were his co-contestants to come on board in order to achieve better results for Anambra-Central senatorial zone.

He said the primary election which produced him as the candidate of APGA for Anambra-Central senatorial district election was the freest and fairest election he has ever witnessed and that the All Progressives Grand Alliance is a very sound political party and on the right channel too for greater exploits.

Nwankwo also said he would liaise with stakeholders and the Anambra State Government to make sure that insecurity was frontally tackled. He said insecurity was a huge challenge in the Southeast and particularly in Anambra state but he lauded the efforts of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo saying that the governor has really tried in combating insecurity in Anambra state.
