During an operational visit to Headquarters 82 Division Nigerian Army, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, called upon troops to demonstrate loyalty and commitment to their constitutional responsibilities, safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The COAS emphasized the importance of not succumbing to negative influences from social media, urging troops to uphold discipline and core values.

Lagbaja acknowledged the government’s interventions in troops’ welfare and combat enablers, highlighting the settlement of unpaid Group Life Assurance since 2011 and the initiation of troops’ Accident Insurance payments. He urged troops to reciprocate these interventions by remaining loyal, disciplined, and enhancing operational effectiveness in addressing security challenges.

The COAS paid tribute to Enugu and Ebonyi States for their support, acknowledging the restoration of peace and stability due to troops’ commitment. During courtesy visits to Governors Peter Mbah and Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, represented by Deputy Governor Princess Patricia Obila, the governors commended the troops for contributing to socio-economic development.

Lagbaja’s visit included the unveiling of the remodeled Headquarters 82 Division Complex, commissioning of renovated projects, and groundbreaking for new Officers’ Transit Accommodation.
