Just a day after the Anambra Police Command apprehended two notorious cult leaders known for wreaking havoc in Ihiala local government area, a kidnappers’ hideout has been discovered in Nnobi town within Idemili South local government area.

Through a covert operation conducted by officers and personnel of the Command, two AK-47 rifles were successfully recovered from the spot where they had been concealed by the kidnappers’ syndicate. Presently, the members of the gang are evading capture.

It has been disclosed that these rifles were pilfered from police facilities located in Ogidi and Ukpo, situated in Idemili North and Dunukofia local government areas respectively, during the preceding year.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, in an official statement: “The Anambra State Police Command has retrieved two AK-47 Rifles that were previously stolen from two police facilities.”

“One of the rifles was looted during the assault on the Zone 13 Headquarters in Ukpo by unidentified assailants in 2021.”

“The second firearm was taken from the Area Command Headquarters in Ogidi early last year amidst an attack by insurgents.”

“Toiling through meticulous intelligence gathering, undercover operatives managed to uncover the whereabouts of these firearms concealed in Nnobi, Idemili South LGA of the State.”

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has extended commendations to the operatives for their unwavering diligence, urging them to persist until the culprits behind the assaults, which resulted in the loss of police lives, are brought to justice.”

“He has pledged to furnish the team with all necessary logistical support until their objectives are accomplished,” Tochukwu affirmed.
