Anambra and Lagos States have embarked on a collaborative initiative aimed at advancing Information and Technology (IT) development in Nigeria. This partnership, born out of bilateral discussions with IT stakeholders during the Reverse Trade Mission in the United States of America, seeks to strengthen the IT ecosystems of both states. The focus is on tackling emerging challenges, promoting innovation, and enhancing cybersecurity infrastructure.

This collaborative effort aligns with the Federal Government’s agenda for digitalization, as emphasized by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, during the recent Nigeria National Council of ICT Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies meeting in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The objectives of the Anambra/Lagos partnership include enhancing cybersecurity collaboration, protecting IT assets, implementing cyber protection measures, and expanding IT service platforms. Both states will deploy new cybersecurity methods to fortify IT infrastructure, formulate strategies to counter evolving cyber threats, and introduce advanced cyber protection measures.

Additionally, the partnership will focus on digitization and customer service improvement to enhance service delivery, promote rapid acquisition of new IT skills, and upscale the skill system to meet evolving demands in the IT sector. Joint efforts will also be made to bolster the pool of skilled IT professionals.

Tunbosun Alake, Lagos State Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, expressed optimism about the collaboration, highlighting its potential to strengthen technological capabilities and create a resilient IT infrastructure.

Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, CFA, MD/CEO of Anambra State ICT Agency, sees the partnership as an opportunity to leverage each state’s strengths and elevate the IT services market. Together, they aim to achieve technological excellence and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s digital transformation.

This forthcoming partnership between Anambra and Lagos states is poised to make significant strides in the Information Technology sector, setting a precedent for collaborative efforts to advance the nation’s technological landscape.
