A Kaduna State High Court has postponed the hearing of the bail request filed by former governor Nasir El-Rufai to the first week of June 2026.
Bellnews reports that the case is before Justice Darius Khobo, who fixed the new date during proceedings held on Tuesday in Kaduna.
The former governor is facing several charges linked to alleged financial misconduct and abuse of office. The charges were brought against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.
El-Rufai arrived at the court premises around 9 a.m. in a convoy, accompanied by officials of the anti-corruption agency and operatives of the Department of State Services. Security presence was tight around the court, with officers controlling movement in the area.
During the session, a number of his supporters gathered outside the courtroom, while security personnel monitored the situation to prevent any disruption.
After the hearing, his lawyer, Ukpon Akpan, expressed concern over the repeated delays in the bail application, describing the situation as being driven by political reasons.
The court is expected to continue hearing the matter when it resumes in June.
Meanwhile, El-Rufai has alleged a fresh plot to implicate him in criminal activities, warning of what he described as coordinated efforts to tarnish his image and keep him in prolonged detention.
