President Bola Tinubu has extended his commendation to the Super Eagles for their remarkable performance during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final in Ivory Coast.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu praised the team’s resilience and dedication throughout the tournament.
The statement expressed, “President Bola Tinubu applauds the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their tenacious display in the final of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.
“President Tinubu lauds the team, the coach, the crew, and the entire management for their unwavering commitment, hard work, and sacrifice, which propelled them to reach the finals despite numerous challenges along the way.”
“Highlighting the hurdles they overcame with each match, President Tinubu acknowledges the team’s relentless improvement and commendable performance as they progressed to the finals.”

President Tinubu urged citizens not to be discouraged by the outcome, stating, “Let us not be disheartened by this temporary setback but rather let it serve as motivation to unite and strive harder. Despite the defeat to the host nation, Tinubu emphasized that the Super Eagles exhibited determination and skill throughout the tournament.
The victory in the 2023 CAF African Cup of Nations final went to the Ivory Coast’s Elephants, who secured a 2-1 win over the Super Eagles.
