Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a 19-year-old man in connection with the alleged murder of a commercial sex worker in Bauchi Local Government Area. According to Ahmad Wakil, the Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect was arrested on Monday after fatally stabbing the victim and injuring another person who tried to intervene.

The incident stemmed from a heated argument between the suspect and the deceased, who had demanded N5,000 as payment for services rendered in a previous encounter. The confrontation escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in serious injuries to the victim, Emmanuella Ande, leading to her untimely death.

Wakil stated, “The arrest was made following a distress call received from a Good Samaritan that on the same date, at about 6:45 p.m., the suspect entered a hotel room of Happiness Garden situated at Bayan Gari. He, subsequently, stabbed his girlfriend, Emmanuella Ande, around her upper chest region, and at that point, the victim screamed, and the people around attempted to rescue her.”

Despite the intervention of bystanders, the suspect continued his violent spree by stabbing another person, Zaharaddeen Adamu, on his left hand. Police officers intervened to rescue the suspect from a potential mob attack and transported the victims to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.

Tragically, Emmanuella Ande was pronounced dead by a medical doctor, and her body has been deposited at the morgue. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect and the deceased initially met on Facebook earlier in the year. It was also discovered that the suspect had debited N400,000 from his father’s bank account to fund his time with his girlfriend. The police are continuing their investigations into the incident.
