Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has reportedly reconnected with his old political ally, Victor Giadom, who currently serves as the South-south Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The move is seen as a potential indication of plans to join the ruling party.

Speaking at Bera community in Gokana Local Council of Rivers State, Wike emphasized that his visit was a private one devoid of political motives. He expressed happiness to reunite with his old-time friend, Giadom, emphasizing the importance of impactful politics that serves the people.

Wike, addressing the local context, mentioned, “Forget about these hungry noisemakers on the road. When the time comes, we will know who is in charge and who is not in charge. There is a time for everything. This is not the time for politics. When the time comes, we will know who is who.”

He added, “Party will come and go, and friendship will remain. We have made our mistakes; we are all humans, but friendship remains. When I was governor, Nigeria heard about Rivers State. That is what I have always preached. So, nobody should be afraid.”

While Wike maintained that his visit was not politically motivated, some political observers suggest that the meeting could be a strategic move to lay the groundwork for his potential defection to the APC. This development comes just two days after Senator Magnus Abe, a former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), returned to the APC.
