Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has raised vital questions regarding why citizens are discouraged from arming themselves in self-defense against gunweilding terrorists and criminal herdsmen attacking the country.
Speaking on TVC News, the PDP leader defended his stance on self-defense in Benue State.
Addressing the topic, Governor Samuel Ortom said, “We can not allow impunity to continue in the manner that it is happening in our country.” What law is backing criminal herdsmen and bandits to carry Ak-47 and AK-49 guns to destroy people’s homes and kill them? They drive people out of their homes.
Lawlessness has already started, so why should I fold my arms and wait? I have asked my people to defend themselves, and that is what we are doing. ”
The governor also backed his points with the Bible by saying that the Christian holy book does not speak against self-defense.
