A 2023 presidential aspirant contesting on the platform of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore has vowed to sack top army generals on securing the presidency next year.
Omoyele Sowore while revealing his plans on security during an interview, the famous human rights activist and pro-democracy campaigner said he is going to fire all army generals who are involved in fighting terrorism in the country.
“They are thieves and I know them. I have done that as an investigative reporter. These guys don’t want the war to end. I know that those hearing this from me will probably be feeling pity for me saying the generals will never allow this guy to become president.
No, we should not be at the mercies of the generals. The generals should be at the mercy of the country because we are the one paying them. I will fire every one of them and I will increase the officer cadre of the Nigerian security system.
The convener of the Take It Back movement emphasized that the officers are not enough as he alleged that the generals don’t promote people.
“They know that if they promote, they will be on their way out.”
