The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara on Thursday met with his predecessor in office and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Bellnews reports the two leaders met in Port Harcourt, the State capital at the rededication service of the 2023/2024 Legal Year at the Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Church in Port Harcourt.

It was the first time both politicians would be meeting in public since the political crisis in the state.

Last week, the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, apologised to state residents over the recent political crisis.

Naija News reports that Fubara, in a statement on Saturday, said it was important to make sacrifices for peace to reign in the state, stressing that no sacrifice is considered too much to achieve the objective.

The Governor addressed the setting ablaze of the state House of Assembly complex, the division among lawmakers and other series of events that led to chaos in the state.

Fubara also appreciated President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the rift with his predecessor and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

He added that peace will undoubtedly prevail and would continue to work for the security and progress of our state.
