President Bola Tinubu affirmed his commitment to practicing a form of democracy aimed at eradicating poverty and providing quality education for Nigerian children. During a meeting with the National Working Committee of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) in Lagos, Tinubu emphasized the necessity of strong collaboration between the federal, state, and local governments to achieve these goals.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu expressed his support for the establishment of the National Institute of Progressive Studies. He stressed the importance of a progressive, inclusive democracy focused on addressing poverty, creating job opportunities for youths, and ensuring quality education for all Nigerian children.

Tinubu highlighted the need for collaboration among various government arms and commended the APC’s leadership for working towards promoting these essential ideals. He urged the party to target more youths and women in its e-registration and digital membership validation exercise, set to be completed in the first quarter of 2024.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by democracy in the past, Tinubu expressed optimism about the future and emphasized the importance of collaboration. He thanked party members for their support during the campaigns, electoral victory, and the affirmation of his presidency by the Supreme Court.

Addressing the issue of out-of-school children, Tinubu called for the establishment of more schools, recruitment of teachers, and the provision of at least one meal a day for school children. He aligned this initiative with the progressive ideology pursued by the APC.

The National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, informed the President about the NWC’s strategies for success in the upcoming by-elections into national and state legislative houses in February 2024. Ganduje assured Tinubu that under the leadership of the NWC, the party had devised plans to secure support and win all available seats in the electoral contest.
