Bayern Munich has announced that their manager, Thomas Tuchel, will be leaving the club at the conclusion of the current season.

The decision was communicated via a statement released by the club’s CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen, on Bayern’s official website on Wednesday.

This revelation comes amidst a turbulent period for the club, marked by a string of disappointing performances in recent matches.

Bayern suffered a 3-0 defeat to league leaders Bayern Leverkusen, followed by a 1-0 loss to Lazio in the Champions League, and most recently, a 3-2 defeat to VFL Bochum on Sunday.

Dreesen stated, “Following an open and constructive discussion, we have mutually agreed to conclude our collaboration in the summer.”

Thomas Tuchel, the former Chelsea boss who led Bayern to a Champions League victory, assumed his role just 11 months ago and was contracted until the end of the next season. However, both parties have agreed to part ways at the conclusion of the current campaign, as Bayern appears poised to miss out on winning the domestic title for the first time in 12 years.

“FC Bayern Munich and head coach Thomas Tuchel have jointly decided to end their working relationship, which was originally set to run until 30 June 2025, on 30 June 2024,” the club announced.

“This decision follows a constructive discussion between CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and Thomas Tuchel.”

Tuchel’s departure from Bayern will take effect in the summer, joining the ranks of other managers like Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp and Barcelona’s Xavi Hernandez, who have also announced their departures several months in advance.
