The arrival took place on Tuesday and was attended by his family members, including his second son. Mr. Ibu passed away at the age of 62 due to cardiac arrest on Saturday at Evercare Hospital in Lagos. His death followed a prolonged illness, which necessitated the amputation of one of his legs due to diseased blood vessels.
During his lifetime, Mr. Ibu garnered significant acclaim not only in Nigeria but also in other African countries such as Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Gambia, Gabon, and Botswana. Dominic Nwuzoru, Mr. Ibu’s manager, disclosed in an interview in Abuja that the late actor was particularly celebrated for his comedic talents which he utilized to promote peace and unity across the continent. Nwuzoru highlighted Mr. Ibu’s unwavering patriotism, often seen proudly displaying the Nigerian flag. Throughout his career, Mr. Ibu received numerous honors and recognitions from African leaders and communities, further cementing his legacy.
