As reported by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), a technical issue in power installations has resulted in power outages affecting 14 communities in Ogun State.

In a conversation with The PUNCH on Wednesday, IBEDC spokesperson, Busolami Tunwase, confirmed the situation.

The disruption, attributed to a faulty breaker on the Ijoko 33kV feeder, occurred on Tuesday, plunging areas of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government of Ogun into darkness.

Affected communities include Sango, Gasline, Oyero, Onipetesi, Agoro, Olowoagolo, Okunola estate, Lagos/Abeokuta road, Elerinko, Shoprite, Abule-Iroko, and others. IBEDC released a statement stating: “Kindly note that due to a faulty breaker on the Ijoko 33KV feeder, customers in the following communities: Sango, Gasline, Oyero, Onipetesi, Agoro, Olowoagolo, Okunola estate, Lagos/Abeokuta road, Elerinko, Shoprite, Abimbola estate, Abule-iroko, Sango market, Ijoko Abule and environs are experiencing power outage.”

IBEDC apologized for the inconvenience and assured customers that their technical team is collaborating with the Transmission Company of Nigeria to restore power supply.

Earlier, the company had reported a technical fault on the Sobi 33kV feeder affecting areas in Kwara State. However, this issue has been resolved.

Meanwhile, nationwide low power supply persists due to gas shortages, impacting the electricity distribution chain. Eko Electricity Distribution Company and Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company have also apologized to their customers for the limited supply, citing gas constraints as the cause.

Since January, Nigerians have faced intermittent blackouts due to these challenges, despite promises from the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, to address the issue.
