Despite grappling with various injuries since his transfer from German Bundesliga side Union Berlin on July 1, 2022, Taiwo Awoniyi has emerged as the player with the highest shot-conversion rate in the English Premier League last season and is poised to repeat the feat this season.

Over the past two seasons, the 26-year-old Nigerian striker has appeared in 41 league matches out of a possible 76, owing to recurring fitness setbacks.

During these appearances, Awoniyi accumulated a total of 2,352 minutes out of 6,840 available minutes, netting a remarkable 16 goals.

According to a report by Sky Sports, Awoniyi boasts a remarkable 28.6 percent shot conversion rate, outperforming renowned forwards like Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who maintains a 26.1 percent conversion rate.

Following closely behind are Callum Wilson of Newcastle United (24 percent), Diogo Jota of Liverpool (22.5 percent), and Ivan Toney of Brentford (21.4 percent).

It’s worth noting that despite Haaland’s impressive tally of 52 goals across the two seasons, Awoniyi’s efficiency in converting shots into goals sets him apart. Despite missing 11 league matches last season due to injury, Awoniyi continues to showcase his unstoppable form this season and last. However, his ongoing battle with injuries threatens his availability for future matches.
