Soludo Contributes N300m to New Anglican University in Onitsha

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has pledged a donation of 300 million naira to the recently established University on the Niger.

Governor Soludo expressed that the donation signifies the government’s backing for the successful commencement of projects at the University on the Niger, UNINIGER.

The disclosure was made by the Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Dr. Owen Nwokolo, during the collation ceremony of seven Canons and five Archdeacons at All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha. He hailed the donation as unprecedented, highlighting the consistent support of the State Government towards education across various levels.

Bishop Nwokolo commended Soludo for recognizing the church as a partner in progress and encouraged him to continue in that vein, emphasizing the pivotal role of education in national development. He urged the newly appointed Canons and Archdeacons to view their elevation as a call to heightened service.

In his sermon titled “Kingdom Exploits,” Venerable Okechukwu Ukpeke of the Inland Town Archdeaconry urged the newly promoted priests to exemplify Christ through their lifestyles and to become strong representatives wherever they go.

Among the newly elevated priests, Reverend Canon Chijioke Okpalakunne and Venerable Chinedu Nnatuanya expressed gratitude to God for their elevation and affirmed their dedication to the growth of the Diocese.

The installation of the newly elevated priests was accompanied by their swearing-in, amidst jubilation from the packed congregation at the Cathedral.

The service attracted dignitaries and high-ranking government officials, including the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtoo Udeze, among others.
