A spokesperson of the Labour Party, LP, Kenneth Okonkwo has reacted to the judgment of the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court had dismissed the appeals of both the LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. The apex court ruled that the issues raised by the two opposition candidates were not enough grounds to annul the election or sack Tinubu; it therefore upheld the election of the President.

However, in a recent interview with AriseTv, Okonkwo, who has been very outspoken about the 2023 elections elections, stated that the Supreme Court confirmed that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, led by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, did not do what it should have done to ensure the credibility of the elections.

The actor turned politicians alleged that Yakubu failed to play by the rules which impacted the credibility of the election. He then went on to demand the resignation of Yakubu. According to him, in a saner society, Yakubu ought to have resigned on his own having failed to adequately discharge his duties properly during the conduct of the election.
