The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has revealed the party Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is working for.
According to a report by Bellnewsonline, Atiku made it clear that Wike is working for the PDP adding that the Rivers Governor is not working against his party as some opposition figures paint it. The former Vice President insisted that Wike, other governors, and stalwarts are all working for the PDP to win the 2023 election.
Atiku’s disclosure came after he had a crucial meeting with Wike and some PDP Governors in London yesterday. That meeting came after weeks of face-off with the Rivers Governor amid repeated meetings that ended in deadlock. After the past meetings, Atiku and Wike did not speak on the outcome but the PDP candidate decided to speak after their London meeting yesterday.
While making this known, Atiku also advised stakeholders and his supporters to stay away from assumptions that may endanger PDP’s unity. Atiku spoke via a statement by his spokesperson Paul Ibe, where he dispelled speculations that Wike and Governors in his camp were planning to work with the opposing camp in the coming 2023 presidential election.
The PDP presidential candidate accused the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, of creating an illusion of division in PDP which does not exist. He added that the ruling party was scared of its impending loss in the coming election and that was why it resorted to manipulations that could cause confusion and make PDP’s united house look like there was any division.
