In a significant breakthrough, Anambra State police operatives have successfully recovered two AK-47 rifles stolen during separate attacks on police formations in the state.

The State’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, revealed this in a statement issued to the press on Monday, February 12, 2024. According to the statement, one of the rifles was taken during an assault on the Zone 13 Headquarters in Ukpo by unidentified gunmen in 2021. The second rifle was looted from the Area Command Headquarters in Ogidi during an attack by insurgents early last year.

“To our commendation, the Anambra State Police Command has recovered two AK-47 rifles stolen from two police formations years ago,” the statement affirmed.

The meticulous work of undercover operatives led to the discovery of the hidden arms cache in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area of the State.

Commending the diligent efforts of the operatives, Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, emphasized the importance of continuing the investigation until the perpetrators behind the attacks, which resulted in the loss of police lives, are brought to justice. He assured the team of full logistical support until their objectives are accomplished.
