Gift Okpara, known as 2Baba, the prime suspect in the brutal murder of former Divisional Police Officer SP Bako Angbashim, has been neutralized by the Rivers State Police Command.
In a coordinated operation involving the police and other security agencies, a simultaneous land and aerial raid was conducted on the identified hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang in Idu-Ekpeye, located in the Ahoada East local government area of the state on Saturday afternoon. Following the operation, 2Baba was reportedly feared dead.
According to a senior police source who spoke on condition of anonymity to The PUNCH, “2Baba sustained multiple gunshot wounds along with some of his loyalists. Although he fell to the ground, some of his associates managed to evacuate him. The police are currently in pursuit to retrieve his body.”
It is worth recalling that Superintendent Angbashim was ambushed and captured by the gang led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community of Ahoada East LGA in September 2023.
