A potential tragedy was narrowly averted last night in Anambra State as residents of a four-story building managed to escape unscathed following the collapse of four overhead tanks within the premises.

The incident occurred in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of the State, around 9 p.m. on Monday, catching some residents off guard as they were already asleep while others were preparing to retire for the night.

Eyewitnesses reported a loud noise accompanying the collapse, shaking the entire building and prompting frightened residents to hastily evacuate, including those who had been asleep moments before.

The sheer force of the tanks’ descent resulted in significant damage to a section of the four-story building. Unuebho Israel, one of the witnesses, attributed the collapse to the weakened scaffolds supporting the heavy Geepee tanks, which ultimately gave way under the weight.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported from the incident. However, the structural integrity of parts of the building was compromised, drawing attention from the entire neighborhood to the scene of the accident.
