Open Grazing – Yoruba Traditional Chiefs Slams Atiku Over Plan to Enact Law.

The Council of Traditional Baales of Ibadan land, popularly called Community leaders on Thursday, 23rd June 2023, slammed the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar over his purported plan to enact law that will support the open grazing of cattle in Nigeria, if he wins the forthcoming 2023 Presidential election.

The group warned the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, against enacting a law or supporting any action aimed at enslaving the people of southwest zone, stating that the yoruba race would not accept any plan to balkanize the region.

According to the group, there are laws banning them (herders) in the southwest, late Justice Adewale Thompson was the first to pronounce roaming of animals illegal but did not ban people from moving from one place to another.

Furthermore, they expressed the readiness of the council to collaborate with the government at all levels to achieve a set of economic goals.
