Ogun State Government is set to host the 18th edition of the National Council on Transportation from Tuesday, February 13, to Friday, February 16, 2024.
Engr. Olugbenga Dairo, the Commissioner for Transportation in Ogun State, disclosed this in a statement over the weekend. The theme for this year’s edition is ‘Embracing Innovations and Technologies For Sustainable Transportation: Tackling The Energy Challenges.’
Dairo highlighted that the annual event serves as a platform to enhance development within Nigeria’s transportation system.
The meeting, under the auspices of State Governor Dapo Abiodun, will convene Commissioners responsible for Transportation from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, along with their permanent secretaries, Transport Secretaries, Director of Planning Research and Statistics, and other key stakeholders.
The Guest of Honour at the event will be Senator Saidu Alkali, the Minister for Transportation.
Dairo emphasized the significance of the National Council on Transportation as a vital national gathering aimed at advancing Nigeria’s transportation infrastructure.
“In line with His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun’s commitment to positioning Ogun State as a leader in transportation innovation, we are pleased to announce the State’s readiness to host the 18th edition of the National Council on Transportation,” stated Dairo.
“The event will bring together transportation experts, regulators, policymakers, investors, and operators from across the country, including federal and state ministries of transportation and relevant federal agencies. The discussions will revolve around current transportation issues, innovative and technological solutions, and the formulation of policies for the sector,” he added.
The venue for the event is the June 12 Cultural Centre, located in Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
