The Nigeria Football Federation Refereeing Development Unit has taken swift action by suspending center referee Jimoh Abdurasheed and his assistant Zakari Adamu from officiating further matches in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The suspension came following a petition lodged by Kano Pillars to the Nigerian Professional Football League.
Abdurasheed and Adamu were responsible for officiating the matchday 24 fixture between Rivers United and Kano Pillars at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium last weekend, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Reports suggest that their conduct during the game was deemed unprofessional, particularly relating to Rivers United’s equalizer.
The decision to suspend the officials has been communicated to the President and the General Secretary of the NFF.
