Awka was aglow with celebration on Monday, February 26, 2024, as history was made once again with the birth of quadruplets at Life International Hospital. The proud parents, Mrs. Stella Obimma and her husband, Sir Hon. Vincent Obimma, welcomed a set of quadruplets, comprising three boys and a baby girl, bringing immense joy not only to their family but also to the medical team and the entire community.

Dr. Louis Nwajiaku, the Head of Clinical Services at the esteemed medical facility in Awka, shared the remarkable news with reporters, highlighting the successful delivery as a testament to the effectiveness of medical interventions such as In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Dr. Nwajiaku emphasized that the birth of the quadruplets underscores the potential of IVF to address infertility challenges and provide tangible results, particularly for couples within the age range of 25 to 50 years.

“We are elated and grateful for the successful delivery of the quadruplets,” Dr. Nwajiaku expressed. “Our dedicated fertility team has diligently managed the entire process, from conception to delivery, and we are thrilled to witness this remarkable outcome. This serves as a beacon of hope for couples facing infertility issues, demonstrating that with faith and a competent medical team, positive results are achievable.”

Additionally, Dr. Nwajiaku shed light on the opportunities afforded by IVF, including sex selection, which is offered at the facility. He underscored the hospital’s commitment to providing comprehensive reproductive healthcare services, leveraging its affiliation with Life Specialist Hospital in Nnewi, a leading IVF center in the South East Geopolitical zone.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sylvia Echendu, the Paediatrician at Life International Hospital, highlighted the importance of closely monitoring the quadruplets due to their premature birth before 37 weeks of gestation, ensuring their optimal health and well-being.

Expressing her profound gratitude, Mrs. Stella Obimma, visibly overjoyed, attributed the birth of the quadruplets to divine intervention, especially following the loss of a baby the previous year. Her husband, Sir Hon. Vincent Obimma, echoed her sentiments, describing the quadruplets’ arrival as a miraculous fulfillment of prophecy for their family. He encouraged other couples experiencing infertility challenges to remain steadfast in their faith and patience.

The birth of these quadruplets adds to the growing number of successful IVF deliveries in Anambra State, with over 500 babies born through IVF at Life International Hospital, Awka, and Life Specialist Hospital, Nnewi. This milestone underscores the hospitals’ commitment to providing cutting-edge reproductive healthcare services and bringing joy to families across the region.
