The Kano State Government, in collaboration with the National Project Coordinating Unit of the IDEAS, has sponsored a group of 105 Technical Teachers for a three-week training program at Access International Hotel in Kaduna.

Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, the Commissioner of Education for Kano State, announced this initiative on Monday during an address to the participants at Rumfa College just before their departure to Kaduna. He highlighted that the workshop aims to enhance the competence and motivation of technical teachers throughout the state.

Doguwa explained that the training program is divided into two cohorts, with the first cohort consisting of 105 technical teachers, both male and female, from state technical schools. The initiative aligns with the present administration’s commitment to revitalizing the education sector by providing intensive workshops to enhance the teaching profession.

During the three-week training workshop, participants will cover various areas, including Pedagogy, Digital Skills, and Trade-Specific Areas, among others. The comprehensive training is designed to equip technical teachers with advanced knowledge and skills in technical education.

Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, the Director of Public Enlightenment in the Ministry of Education, Kano State, added that in a bid to strengthen technical education in the state, Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has directed the prompt completion of all technical colleges initiated by the former Governor Engineer Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.

The statement further mentioned ongoing plans to establish a technical college of education in the state, aiming to provide advanced technical education across Kano.

Commending the commitment of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) collaborating with the ministry, the Commissioner expressed gratitude for their efforts in ensuring that education and other developmental activities in the state receive the necessary attention.
