The Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has announced the commencement of registration for the 2024/2025 Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), starting today and concluding on February 24, 2024. In preparation for the exercise, JAMB has accredited 747 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the nation, an increase from the 613 approved centres in 2023.
JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, assured a smooth registration process during a meeting with media executives in Lagos State. The accreditation team for the CBT centres includes Chief External Examiners (VCs/Rectors/Provosts), Technical Advisors, JAMB state coordinators, and JAMB Technical Officers.
As part of the registration procedure, candidates must create a profile using the National Identity Number at various CBT centres nationwide. To complete the registration, candidates should generate their profiles using JAMB USS codes 55019 or 66019. Oloyede emphasized the restriction to only one sort code to prevent multiple charges. Candidates are required to thumbprint as a unique verification tool to conclude the registration.
The registration fee is set at N3,500, and payments will be cashless to prevent extortion. According to available documents, Lagos leads in the number of accredited centres with 80, followed by Ogun with 44, and Oyo with 42 centres. Conversely, Zamfara has the lowest number of accredited centres at 6, while Ebonyi and Kebbi States each have 8 centres.
An analysis by PUNCH Online revealed that the South-West geopolitical zone has the highest number of CBT centres with 226, while the North-East has the lowest with 67 centres.
