Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), has brushed down accusations that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are a terrorist group, according to a report by the FG.
The Nigerian government had banned IPOB after all the chaos they caused in the South East over the last few years. Obi, though, has supported assertions that the group’s members are not terrorists.
The presidential candidate told Channels Television that the IPOB members who are close to him do not pose a threat to the nation.
“The only thing I disagree with is referring to IPOB as terrorists; they are not terrorists,” says Obi. “Those who made the choice might have knowledge that I am not. I stay in Onitsha, and I can tell you that they are people I pass them on the road day.”
